  • Musical Mechanisms. Guided tour of a temporary exhibition at the Musée d'art et d'histoire

Musical Mechanisms. Guided tour of a temporary exhibition at the Musée d'art et d'histoire

Visitors will enjoy a sensory experience as well as a journey through the evolution of the music box, the principle of which was invented in Geneva.

A captivating object, the music box is an elaborate mechanical instrument imbued with musicality: the charm of goldsmith masterpieces, of marquetry boxes, of train station music boxes; the complexity of the mechanisms; the originality of the sounds, and the prowess of transcribing tunes revealing the fashions of their time, as well as the skill of the artisans. Geneva is the birthplace of the vibrating blade invention, presented to the Society of Arts by Antoine Favre in 1796 and introduced at the turn of the 19th century in caskets, snuffboxes, and watches. Cylinders, pins, and blades have since been inseparable from the music box, which has grown in popularity and size. The MAH's horological collection, also sonorous, interacts with some 135 music boxes – cylinder, disc, or strip – bequeathed by J.-A. E. Horngacher (1929-2013), known as Etienne Blyelle, an expert in the field. Assembled in 2025, the collection tells the story of a collector's passion, the broadcasting of music and its repertoire, the craft of mechanical art, and its unique know-how.

  • Angelus - Legendary Timepieces since 1881

Angelus - Legendary Timepieces since 1881

Angelus is proud to unveil its latest watchmaking pieces, marking a premiere in Switzerland.

We invite you to discover graphic complications or vintage design. Angelus calls for technical and chronometric watchmaking. Specialising in skeleton tourbillon pieces, high-tech materials and the chronograph, the brand based in La Chaux-de-Fonds also echoes its heritage. By relying on undisputed historical fundamentals, Angelus is writing new pages in its history.

When founded in 1891 by the Stolz brothers, Angelus specialised in complication movements. They set up a rough-works factory in Le Locle, equipping themselves with a production tool from which they also produced their repeater watch calibres and, from 1925, wrist chronographs. This historical anchoring was the starting point for a renaissance led from 2011.

  • Arnold & Son - Swiss Watchmaking with English Roots

Arnold & Son - Swiss Watchmaking with English Roots

Arnold & Son is proud to unveil its latest watchmaking pieces, marking a premiere in Switzerland.

We invite you to discover the world of Arnold & Son, which owes its name to John Arnold, the famous 18th-century English watchmaker. The golden age of maritime exploration and discovery propelled watchmaking into a new ideal of precision necessary for astronomical navigation to determine longitude at sea. Astronomy, chronometry and what we now call “world time” are therefore inextricably linked to this one and the same quest for precision to which John Arnold devoted his life, his art and his genius.

These three principles—Astronomy, Chronometry, and World Time—are embodied in Arnold & Son’s contemporary timepieces. Echoing John Arnold’s inventions and concerns, they constitute the foundations on which the collections are based, all manufactured in Switzerland.

    Discover Trilobe’s latest creations

A new interpretation of our third collection. An instantly recognizable design. A suspended mechanism. And a touch of color that makes all the difference. The three dimensionality of the design reveals itself from a new perspective. The eye plunges, explores, discovers. And rediscovers. In this sculpted space, time frees itself from traditional hands. It no longer points; it flows. Three rotating rings emerge, each carrying a gradation of time: the hours on the largest, the minutes on the middle one, and the seconds on the smallest.
